Scrapes football league data from BBC Sport webpages

Currently works for Premier league, Championship, League One and League Two.
Takes data from "http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/"+league_name+"/table"

Usage:

  1. # Create LeagueTable object, with the name of the league
  2. league_2 = LeagueTable("league-two")
  4. # Print league table
  5. print(league_2.to_string())
  7. # Generate csv file from self.league_table
  8. # takes str, TypeError if not str.
  9. league_2.to_csv("csv_file")
  11. # Get all teams in league, in ranking order
  12. print(league_2.get_team_names())
  14. # Get info from specific team. If team isn't available you'll be shown
  15. # which teams are available. Not case-sensitive
  16. print(league_2.get_team_info("Notts County"))
  18. # Updates league info from webpage. Takes a second or so.
  19. league_2.update_table()
  21. # Returns string url that object is scraping from
  22. league_2.get_league_url()
  24. # Returns string of league name
  25. league_2.get_league_name()

The following parameters are available for league_name:

  • premier-league
  • championship
  • league-one
  • league-two
